Nobody in my family said, "No - you can't do that..." My parents just made stuff up and then did it... so, I did too. I just love the massive, and multi-layered, heart-and-soul puzzle these various art forms are: music, visual arts, film, design... and there's just no possible way one can ever master these forms - which is freeing, really. Run as hard as you can, your whole life, and there's a chance you'll get on some map or another.
